Face in shadow
He could have been any of our dark-haired, olive skinned sons.
In one picture,
Her young arm
Wraps casually around his toddler frame.
Luxuriant in unsuspecting love
Unmeasured time
She does not hold him fast.
And when she wails
It rises up
out of me.
